Default Aftermarket Seat Heaters

I'm wanting to put seat heaters in my Mini. What do I need to do besides get the heater kits ?? I've read some places that you have to go to a dealer and let them program your Mini for the heaters. Is that only if you use the factory wire harness ?? I'm also wondering about the difficulty of installing. Thanks for any input.

If you are using AFTERMARKET ones all you need to do is supply them with 12 volts
no programming needed. Just run 12 volts to the switch units (some have multiple settings)

You will have to remove the factory seat covers and install the heaters onto the seat foam then reinstall the seat covers if you are not upholstry experienced I'd recomend a shop to have this done

Thanks. I was hoping that was all I had to do. I did read on one of the heater manufacturer's sites, that Mini Coopers were a little more difficult to install because they glued the covers to the foam. I don't think that will cause a problem. Just make it more time consuming I imagine. I have a friend that has some upholstry experience. But never messed with these before.

Is it possible to install the switches next to the mirror adjustment switch, or will I have to find another location ?? Thanks for your reply.

It depends on the switches that come with the unit some have a variable heat unit besides the switch

Here are some like I was thinking about getting. Looks like the switch is similar to the Mini's.
