Default aftermarket stereo R56

i am trying to up grade my sound system my 2007 R56, but i can not find a wiring harness and have heard that the stock head unit is wired into the ECU.
does anyone know how to override the ECU or an alternative to instal an aftermarket head unit so i can work on my full sound system?

i had called crutchfield and they were no help. they told me that the convertible has mounting kits.

but, bad venge i actually bought the dash kit that is a direct fit and then realized exactly what you said. i know there is an issue with taking out the stock head unit because it runs the ECU, and gives the gauges information like fuel milage and odom. i was wondering if anyone knew if i could take my 6 disc cd changer out and replace with a single din head unit. I was assuming i could run all new power lines and ample/speaker lines through the car. the only issue i see with doing the new power lines and head unit is i would need a hot cable to initially turn on the head unit/amp.

does anyone know anything about how to work this out?
