Default New Owner Question; Oil Change Mileage indicator

I'm a new owner (bought it used) of a 2010 S Hatchback. It had 8700 miles on it when I bought it from a non-Mini car dealership. I have no idea what services have been done on the vehicle since it was new. But when I look at the service info for the oil change it shows 8000 miles and a date of 12/2011. This mileage hasn't changed since I purchased the vehicle and I have 9000+ miles on it now. My question is - what does the 8000 miles indicate? The manual really doesn't say and in reading thru other forums, etc. I've seen that it should be counting DOWN the mileage until the next oil change but mine doesn't change - it's been at 8000 since I bought it. That leads me to think that the oil should have been changed at 8000 miles and either wasn't done or it was done and the computer wasn't reset. Any help here would be greatly appreciated since the nearest dealership is 250 miles away from where I live.

Mini's interval is 15k or YEARLY since J don't know the date the car was originally purchased I can't guess if the yearly was done or not ... most dealers will not reset it after the yearly then when the countdown hits zero you get a service engine light... Sometimes the countdown hangs up for awhile I drove almost 200 miles before mine moved ... I'd call the dealer with the VIN number and see if they can check on the last service

Okay, thanks...I'm going to be going to Phoenix (the nearest dealership) on Thursday and planned on stopping in and asking them this same question anyway.

If you are stopping at the dealer take the "key" in and they can scan it and get the history
