Default Occasional Hard Starting

Good evening,

I am normally a Corvette guy (run a Corvette site), however, a co-worker is having a hit/miss problem with her 2007 Cooper S convertable.

It goes like this: Start the car (hot or cold) and it runs very rough with little power. Turn it off, restart, all is great.

She has had it to the dealer a couple of times for this, but they haven't been able to isolate it. My guess is a reflash of the ECU... but I would like to think the dealer did that first.

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Thanks!

- Andy

PS: Nice looking site!

Hi Andy,

Someone tried to sell me a 2003 mini before and i got turned off due to the hardstarting problem... worse yet it did not want to start, we checked overflowing fuel it might have been flooded due to stepping of the gas even if the car's engine hasnt started yet... anyway the problem was immediately solved because we found out that the FUEL PUMP is worn out already... please try checking that... hope your mini goes well...

that does make sense... if the fuel pump is like many of the other modern EFI fuel pumps, it has a built in check valve... things get really wacky when that check valve fails... it might not be generating enoug pressure at startup.

I will forward this off to the owner.

Thanks!
