2004 Mini What oil should I use.

Hi -
I purchased a 2004 mini and am plannning to do my oil changes.
My question is if I change the oil every 3500 miles, is it ok to use
regular 5W30 or should I go with a synthetic oil and change it at
7500 miles?

I run full Synthetic and change at 5k then 10k then let mini change at 15k when in warranty
