Buying an '03 MINI... I need some advice please! - Mini Cooper Forums

Wechecking out an '03 MINI tomorrow and I need some advice about what should I be looking for in the car. As for the car, it is automatic with the CVT tranny and it has 83XXX miles on it. I have heard all the horror stories about the CVT's, as well as people reporting no problems at all. What do you guys think? Is there any way I can check if the tranny is about to go out? Any help will be muchappreciated.

All i can suggest is that you just drive it and check it out. See if anything feels odd. it would help a lot if you could drive a different one that you know is good so you have something to compare to. I have only driven one Mini with a CVT (it was a dealer loaner while they serviced my car), and it really felt odd tome even though it was working OK.
