Question HID headlight conversion

I have a 2006 Mini Cooper. (not "S"). I tried changing out the halogen with H7 HID. Hooked up according to directions. Here's what happens - start the car, turn lights on, low beams flash then out, nothing. However, if I turn the key to accessories, then turn on the lights, they go on and stay on, no problem. I need them on when the car is actually running. Any ideas why this happens?

You might need a relay harness that powers them off a direct connection to the battery and uses the headlight power to turn the relay on
