Default Looking at buying first Mini, question

Fellows:

I am looking at buying a 2005, R50 local from the owner, (he bought a new one) has 141K miles, appears to be in good condition, new steering, battery, brakes. Looks like it has most of the options.

Is that too many miles, or is ok for the mini, he's asking $5K.

Will be for the wife to drive back and forth to work about 2 miles each way.

Your input appreciated.

Cheers

Welcome to MINI Cooper Forums. The R50 is pretty stout. Is it a CVT transmission? When was the last time fluids were changed including the coolant? I'd check over maintenance records to see when things were replaced. Also, be sure to check out the buyers guide here: MINI R50/R53 Buyers Guide - MotoringFile.

I just bought my R50 just over a week ago and love it. I drive more than my wife so the gas milage is great. It handles like its on rails. From what I have read and seen stay away from a automatic. If the service has been done I wouldnt be afraid to buy it.
