Default Not your average window problem

Hello everyone!! Just so you know i have raped the search button for this problem i Just bought this mini, love it. But the drivers side window won't roll Down with out some violant noise and then only comes down slightly.

Pulling off the door panel I can see where the wire that runs the gear drive has eattin thru the white plastic around the gear box. I'd like to just replace all of this and get the window working asap. My problem is I have no idea if I need to buy a new window motor ( mine works ) or what I need to replace. Basically. HELP

there is a gear on the end of the motor and a gear that engages it on the window regulator assembly. so since I cant tell what gear it's eating you will have to see if the motor gear or the regulator is damaged and which one needs replaced

Well the motor seems to be fine. But the wires that drive the window up and Down are binding and cutting into the plastic.

You can buy complete regulator units thru ROCKAUTO.com for around $95. I replaced both in my girlfriends 02'. Both where toast. There's a fitting at the end on the cable housing that's plastic. This piece wears out, breaks, and causes the cable to become loose and causes the window to malfunction. R&R of this piece is not really hard unless you have 12 thumbs. Buy a few extra door clips at the dealer in case you break some prying the door panel off. If you hear your motor working, It's fine.
