I purchased a 2001 mini cooper last september and mine did exactly the same after 2 weeks. Mine was my battery you may want to check the history and see when it last had a new battery. Also have you had it serviced since you purchased it? It's always worth it

Lightbulb

--turn key listen for fuel pump...

--if it the fuel pump runs

--check the spark take the plugs out and make sure they are sparking

--if they are good

--check to see if your getting fuel to the fuel rail because there could be a restriction on it

-- if you have fuel then replace the TPS (last resort)

--then after that let me know what happends and we can go from there

thanks for responding to my thread- i ment to post what the result of the probem was- we did change the throttle body which cleared the code- but -- it still did not reun so yes i have checked for spark and we were not getting the intermittent pulse to the coil- from the harness.

long story and 400.00 later- i had to take it to a bimmer specialist- the immobilizer thought the car had been stolen and was preventing it from starting- i reall had no way to know this- apparently they said that the person i bought it from had changed the battery( which was true) and that some how it sent a pulse to the ecm causeing this problem. it had to be reprogrammed- thet only thing i dont understand about that answer from the specialist is i drove the cra for 2 days with no issue. why would it wait if it was a problem cause by the previous owner replacing the battery.

any ways its running rather sound - so maybe i didnt make such a bad investment.
