I recently bought a used 2002 MINI Cooper S. I LOVE it! Yesterday when I went to leave work, it wouldn't start. But it didn't sound like it was a battery issue. It wouldn't turn over at all but it kept making a beeping sound like it does when I unlock it with the unlock button on the key. Like there was an alarm set or something. I tried to jump it but thought I must not have had a good connection or something. After hours of trying to jump it, playing with the fuses and disconnections of all sorts of stuff, it finally started but we don't know what the initial problem was and what we did to make it start. Is there an anti-theft device of some sort and if so.... what did I do to activate it?
Hmmm most mini's I'm around don't make a beep on lock/unlock ,
What does your keyfob look like ?
Does it have mini wings or not ?
I'm betting you have an aftermarke system on it ...
no, you're right. I have the regular key fob with the wings on it and it doesn't beep when pushed. That's what makes this all so confusing. I don't know what was going on! Everytime I turned the key, it would just beep.It wouldn't even try to turn over and the computer screen just flashed with the beeps!
You know how other vehicles sound when you lock or unlock them with the key fob? That's what it sounded like, but it kept doing it as long as I was trying to turn it over.
