Bonnet Stripes Scratch

New 05 S... New to MCF too!

One of the few exterior dings I saw when I bought this mini last week was a 2-3 inch scratch/cut on the hood bonnet stripe. Is there any insider knowledge to repairing the factory bonnet stripes? I'd appreciate any advice! Thanks

I just bought a new pair of bonnet stripes from minimania.com for right at $125 shipped.

Yup. While prepping my MINI for delivery, the BMW dealership burned off a nice portion of one of my stripes with a buffer. I insisted that it be replaced and ordered a set online and (since I was sending the bill to BMW anyway) had a MINI dealership do the install. They charged $500 for removal and install of the stripes but they are perfect.

If it were me footing the bill, I would have tried the install myself. Figure you've got a chance or two or three to mess up and discard any stripes that get screwed up from mistakes before you'd approach the dealership replacement price.

Do it though, these cars are too much fun to have something that bothers you about yours!
