In the market for a 2004 mini cooper s...

I have recently come into the market for 2004 mini cooper s. It has 72,000 miles. Based on carfax it has had 5 owners but has only had some wiring replaced. The owner is asking $12,300 though he says that the price is negotiable. Does anyone know of any major recurring problems with the 2004 S? Any advice on price?

Aside from the usual wear and tear and random things that can go wrong with any make and model car, the out of the ordinary and expensive stuff that can go wrong on this model 'S' are (1) Power steering pump and, (2) Supercharger. Some people have reported one, or both, of these items wearing out well before their time. Of course, you will also find other people who own cars with twice as many miles, and neither part has blown. Take it with a grain of salt. Good luck.
