Default Radio has no volume

Hi,

I'm writing in for a good friend. She got an '03 S model a few months back. Tonight she explained to me that her radio stopped playing. I took a look at it and went through the radio manual. I've never used one of these before but she explained that the knob on the left has always controlled volume. However now irrespective of whether which mode Radio/CD is selected, nothing happens when you turn the knob. The knob isn't broken however because when I hit the tone button the knob could be used to adjust tone/balance etc.

I went into the programming mode by holding the note button down and went a few screens in and selected RESET in hopes that something might just have gotten messed up in the settings do to her not being familiar with it but that had no effect at all. There is simply no sound at all from any of the speakers.

Has anyone encountered anything like this before on this model? I figured loose wiring somewhere. Unless perhaps there is a separate amp which might have a blown fuse somewhere.

Thanks for the Help !!

It does indeed. I've heard it has issues. Any idea how to figure out if it's the head unit or the amp?
