auto starter for 09 mini club

I was wondering if anyone knows the pros and cons of installing an auto starter in an 09 mini club and if it is even possible.

I have heard two scenerios , Mini States it can not be done. I have had a custom shop look at it, and they stated they CAN get it to work. Trouble is they are looking at $600/$800 for parts labor AND you need a mini key coded for the car at $300
