Default 2007 mini cooper clubman performance flat spot, lacking power, engine noise

Hi Please HELP,

2007 Cooper Clubman has started to show a flat spot in performance at around 2500rpm, when you floor it the power seems to lack but when accelerating half way there doesn't seem to be a problem, I have also noticed that the running sound on idle does not sound as it normally would. I drive a fairly hilly route to work daily and with the lack of power have had to shift down on hills that would normally not be a problem and the lack of performance is making overtaking extremely difficult.

Recently taken to a local garage and had a computer diagnostic check ran on the vehicle and there are no faults showing and from a quick check it isn't apparent what the issue is.

Local Mini Dealer wants to charge £110 for the first hour of diagnostics and would really be better to avoid this at this stage.

Please help guys.

Thanks

Dean
