Exclamation I need help!

HI!

I recently just bought a 2006 mini and I bought it without knowing that the differential was broken. The guy I brought it off from said there was nothing wrong with it and I was dumb enough to believe him. So now I'm stuck with a mini with a broken differential that is part of the transmission. The dealership said it would cost roughly around 8K to replace it since i have to get a brand new transmission. A private auto shop said that it would be cheaper to find a use transmission else where so this is why I am here.

I love this car and I hate that I was dumb enough to believe the guy who sold it to me. So is there any way you guys on here can help me find a new transmission that is cheaper and hopefully save me a bunch of money. Please and thank yous!

Its an 06 mini cooper, automatic, front wheel drive. If there are anything else please get back to me.

i already searched car parts and its still quite pricey. I'm trying to find someone more affordable cause the labor is going to cost a lot too. I'm also trying to find a local salvage yard that might carry it but not sure how to approach the situation since I have never done that before. Do I just contact them and see if they have a transmission for a mini available?

yup, Just call and ask if they have any Mini's on the lot preferably your year? if not it sounds like there isn't a whole lot of deference between 02-05 maybe even 06 just look into that and I think you may find some thing.

You just need to be a bit careful cause the car was in an accident more than likely, just look to see where the car was hit and even ask if there was any damage to the transmission they may or may not no..

If they don't have a Mini ask if they might no another salvage yard that might?
also you should be able to look up the local salvage yards online we have one in Thaxton near by and they had at least 6 of them, not sure they where parting them out or not....
