Default I want a clean bonnet, NO air intake.

New Aussie member, would like some advice from USA enthusiasts
I have been driving a JCW, Chilli for 5 years, and am about to upgrade (2011 JCW) using the "Mini Configurator" program.

As the intercooler for the 2011 JCW model I am after has now moved to the front of the car, it seems pointless having a bonnet air intake with no practical purpose, and I would prefer a "clean" bonnet.
Do you know if this is possible, because the "Configurator" gives every option possible you might require, even different types of (decorative only) air intakes: paint, chrome, carbon, but no bonnet sans air intake. John.

I'd bet you would have to call the dealer and ASK if you can substitute the regular cooper hood for the S hood

Thank you BV. I took the trouble to visit a Mini dealer who viewed me as if I was from another planet, and said "no way". I then looked at his on display JCW 2011, and was even more amazed to discover that the unused hood air scoop was nearly all blanked off internally. I indicated that that would be a source of drag and interfere with streamline air flow at higher speeds, he was not really convinced with my aerodynamics lecture. I have always been a Mini fan, but I am disappointed that they would "stoop" to producing a bonnet (hood) that is among other things irrelevantly decorative (for buyers) as opposed to being utilitarian and streamlined. I notice the Mini WRC series has a "clean" hood!! John.

Your other option would be buy the S as is then remove the bonnet and replace with a regular one , have a body shop paint it to match then sell the S hood or find another cooper owner to swap with you
