Default MINI Service Adds Excess Oil

I just had my MINI serviced for the first time at a local dealership. Two weeks later, I checked the oil, and saw that the oil level was about an inch or so over the maximum fill level. Thought i must be wrong, so I drove it for a little over 6 miles, parked it level, and checked the level again - several times. Each time it looked like too much.

This morning I took it back to dealership, where they confirmed that they put about .75 quart excess in. Service mgr says it's no problem, they do that all the time b/c there are such long spaced between service many customers don't check the oil and run it too low and damage their enginges. (kind of "what they don't know won't hurt us"??)

I'm worried about the damage to my engine from having too MUCH oil. Dealer says .75 quarts extra is ok, shouldn't be a problem. My research shows that the problems won't show right away, but this may have shortened the life of my enginge drastically.

Anyone out there have any info/advice?
