Default Starter/Anti theft ?

Well I saved the ignition barrel, foreign piece of plastic was stopping the key from entering. I have all the Ignition lights, everything works, fitted a new battery as well, the non remote key will open and lock all the doors ok,But nothing when your turn the key to engage the starter.Does the imobilser initiate with the central locking or is the key coded to the ignition barrel ? Has anyone had similar problem and answers? Cheers Coops

There is no "factory immobilizer" There is an optional alarm system , but have no idea if you have one installed ...

If I remember correctly yours was a "theft recovery" they might have tried to hotwire it and blew fuses/cut wires ect ... I'd check for these items first ...

Also unsure how long the cars sat it might have lost computer programming as well

If it has lost computer program how can i reset. Do you know if the chip in the key matches with any other chip in the vehicle somewhere ie the computer, central locking etc or what does it do.

it is an R50 12/2003. It definatley has a chip in the key i had a look and apparently it interfaces with the antennae ring around the ignition barrel which tells the computer to allow it to start. So I need to speak to someone on how to test the ring or the computer. the nearest dealer is 900km away.

Default Starter/Anti theft

Im pretty sure the new starter is ok. The old starter was doing the same thing so that is the only reason I put the new one in. There is also a noise comming from the area around the firewall. I just cant pinpoint the precise area.
