Default Convertible top won't open

My 2005 Mini convertible top won't work properly. When I push the button, only the right side of the sun roof slides. The left side does not move at all. This just began after working well as recently as earlier in the week. Of course since the sun roof won't open, I have no idea about the actual top opening fully or at all. Any ideas?

There was a problem with all 2004/2005 convertibles. The cable to operate the sunroof was only held in with poorly designed crimps. These let go! You can fix using J B Weld, theres 4 vidoes on youtube mini convertible roof repair 1-4. Other that that you can buy the parts for about £262. Cayman autos in Oxford will fix for £750, your local dealer will charge £2850 approx.
