Default Key won't come out. No response.

Earlier today was attempting to sync phone, etc. Left key in and forgot about it for about 2 hours. Now, cannot get key out. Car totally unresponsive. And the dang windows are open. Any suggestions? Drive 100 miles yesterday. Don't think it could be battery.

I'd try to jump it first and see if the battery is dead

obvious other questions if automatic is it in park ? wiggle shifter? might not be making contact

Thanks, bad venge. MINI roadside assistance came this morning and jumped off my young (1800 miles) 6-speed Mini and I drove it in to the dealer (conveniently under a mile from where I live.) The event started when I was fiddling with phone connectivity with the vehicle in Condition 1 (switched ON without motor running). Don't know why it completely discharged so quickly. Anyway they replaced the battery, did general inspection and washed the vehicle. Great service, I must say. They also synced my phone for me.

Later yesterday someone elsewhere online told me about Battery Reset (undo battery posts, join the cables for 20 minutes and hook up again). This procedure successfully released the 'key', but at that point the battery was totally dead.
