oil changes

Hi, 1st post.
My dealer is telling me that i'm only to use special Mini oil. Something that castrol makes exclusively for mini. This sounds like a load of crap to me. I like to do my own changes. Would mobil 1 syn be ok? Thanks Boomer5.
