Default fuel starvation?

We are recent owners of a 2004 Monte Carlo S edition with about 32k mileage. At times
when we are idling at a stoplight for a slightly extended period with the air conditioning on
the Mini begins to shake as if the engine is starving for fuel. We have no BMW or Mini dealer
in our area. When I checked with a certified mechanic, it looked up my concern about the
fuel filter and said it was in the fuel tank, and not scheduled for regular maintenance.
What could be our problem?I appreciate any help with this.

Default RE: fuel starvation?

There's actually a service bulletin about this. If you can make it to a dealer they'll reflash the ECU to get rid of it.
