Default bmw mini cooper rear wiper arm

I am trying to fit a new wiper arm to the rear wiper on my '04 mini cooper but it seems to be seized on. I have managed to get the plastic part of the arm off by sawing it but there is still a metal part left on which will need to be removed to fit the new arm. Can anyone help and tell me how to get this off. Thanks

dis simaler metals corrode I had to use a two armed gear puller to get mine off ... Spray in with plenty of penatrating oil and allow to sit before trying it
others have had to use a cut off wheel and get it cut mostly thru then twist it off/loose

Do you think applying heat to it would do the trick or are there plastic bushes there that could melt?

I'd be more concerned about glass/paint damage

Default Rear wiper arm removal.

I had the same problem when by back glass broke... Remove the whole motor, 3 scerws if I remember. Set in a good solid vice. Put the nut back on the stud of the wiper arm/motor, not tight but loose enough to give it a little room to be hammered off. Put a socket on the nut, and carefully hammer it loose. I should have taken pictures... let me know if you don't understand.

Yeah I know what you mean. Is it best to clamp the bit thats to come off in the vice?

Nope, you just want to use the vice as a non-yeilding surface in which to support the wiper arm. the shaft of the wiper arm will be hanging loose between the jaws of the vice. Put the nut back on the shaft, with a many threads as you can to help but not tight on the wiper arm as you are trying to remove this from the wiper motor shaft. Put a socket on the nut and using a hammer or even a malet, give it a good controlled whack! And the motor should come free of the arm. The reason you can't do this when it is on the car is because when you hit it, it just bounces.

Clear as mud - Right?
