Default Bulging tires

I have a 2006 Mini Cooper S, that I just bought used last October and the dealer said the tires had recently been replaced. I took my car to gets its annual safety inspection today and it failed because 3 of the tires had bulges! The inspector said he sees it a lot on “this type of car.” I have Goodyear eagle tires, and they don't look that old. Can anyone tell me if they’ve had this problem before and if so, if there is a better tire for my car that will last longer? I live on the east coast and we had a particularly bad winter this year that resulted in a lot of pot holes, but I don’t feel like my tires should have gone this bad after just a year.

Runflats have VERY VERY stiff sidewalls , hitting a pothole and the lower profile we run cause the sidewalls to pinch against the rim causing the damage

I think they are run flat tires, would you recommend not going with run flat. will non-run flats last longer?
