Hello. I'm new to this forum--hope I'm doing it right. I just bought a used '05 Mini cabrio and the top doesn't work. The local British Auto shop replaced both locking hooks, and the top still only retracts to sunroof (we've toyed with the button thing in the back to no avail). After much investigation, the shop said the frame of the top is broken and can't be repaired. Unfortunately, they were unable to tell me where it's broken. Any ideas or suggestions?

Also, is there any way to disable the little chirp that happens when you lock and unlock the doors?

Oh, also, I paid the shop $500 to replace the hooks--which they diagnosed as the reason the top didn't work--and the top still doesn't work. Is that customary--to pay for a repair that didn't work?
