Default Oil leak..help needed!!

Hiya,

I am looking for some advice please! I have a 2006 Mini cooper. It has done just under 67,000 miles and has developed an oil leak.

I'm not sure where it is coming from? Any suggestions?

Will the likely hood be that it is the sump gasket??

Need to fix my wee car!!

xxx

Sorry you need to be a little more specific at least the area it's coming from ... Left side , Right side , middle , Phychic powers do not work over the internet

Can be tons of things beside the oilpan gasket ...

Haha...very funny!! Right Its obvious I dont know what I'm talking about but my mechanic says it looks like its the sump gasket but he is not sure. It has steadily leaked for over a year and the left side of the engine looks like its really oily when I open the bonnet?? I saw someone else had photos of their car with the same leaking oil marks on the left hand side and they said it was an engine mount leak?

If it is the engine mount that is leaking how serious is it?

Engine mount leak is minor it will leak and then stop when the oil filled mount runs dry ...

If it was my car I would get some engine cleaner and follow the directions and clean the engine and watch for "new" leaks or if the leaks disappear the motor mount is shot

Yes a motor mount is a minor leak , but you say you see oil leaking from the top?
Sounds like a leaking valve cover gasket. However,I do bet your oil pan gasket is leaking , they are notorious for that. Also crank shaft sensor o-ring likes to leak as well.Post a pic of this "leak" if you can.

I'll try get a picture of the leak.

Next question...my rear window break light needs replaced. How do I do that?

Do you need to take the spoiler off?

There are 2 types spoiler mounted and on roof under spoiler... on roof is under the headliner you need to open the hatch and look up

spoiler mounts vary if they are led or incandescent
