I personally can't stand it, I'm really happy I got an 06 while they're still around. What do you all think?

I don't like the 2007. The nose looks swollen and the angled headlight enclosures make it look "wall eyed." And I prefer the screaming supercharger to the dull hum of the turbocharger.

So once I had seen pictures of and read details on the 2007 MINI, I went right out and purchased a 2006 MINI Cooper S with the JCW kit before they disappeared. I have a black one with a silver top. Love the colors, love the styling, love the scream during acceleration, and love the mind numbing cornering Gs.

 

Cool. I have an Astro Black / Astro Black Cooper S on the way (pick up in 3 days!) I love that color.

I love the R56, just got one (last Saturday). There are many changes, as you know, and most are for the better. The main areas of discussion seem to be

1. Looks
2. No supercharger

The looks are a personal thing I guess. The supercharger / turbo debate will go on forever, personally I find the car faster to accelerate than the R53 S, closer to a JCW really. As I did not own an R53 S this is based on limited driving of them so is by no menas definative and also the reason why I probably do not miss the supercharger whine.

The R56 is more refined when driving, again down to choice whether you like this or not I suppose.

They're much bigger than the old model, but the pic doesn't help.

 

I love my '07, but am in agreement with the looks...it definitely lost something. The headlights were the most unfortunate change, and while I know they changed the front-end to meet new european regulations (apparently they wanted their pedestrians to bounce off at a different trajectory!), I don't see why the headlight restyle was necessary. My previous Mini was a non-S, so I can't comment on the supercharger...but I like the turbo!
