2011 Cooper S Battery Died Now Won't Start
 

Hello All,

looking for some troubleshooting advice getting our mini running. Here is the situation:

Car was in about 6" of water in Hurricane Harvey (about half way up the tires), but it started the next day and ran fine except the wipers would not work. Took it for a ride to the empty grocery store and back.

2 days later the battery was dead (completely, like not even an interior light). Car failed to start with a jump, but turned over. Also noticed wipers were now working. (this made sense since the car has sat for a while and the battery had already required a jump once, so I figured it was getting weak)

Charged the battery ... still cranks and no start. Believe the key FOB is OK as it can lock/unlock car and the key icon shows up in the cluster when inserted.

I know there is fuel as I pulled each of the plugs and you can definitely smell fuel, but they are not wet. They also do not appear to be fouled. Tried starting it with a jump too just in case battery is still compromised and it still won't fire up. Also, tried turning over with gas pedal pushed to floor in case it was flooded, but again plugs are dry, but there is definitely a smell of gas.

Pulled and inspected each fuse and put an OBDII scanner on it, but there are no codes.

By process of elimination, I think this is spark related, but the question is why and how can I debug with no codes? I'm leaning on blaming the dead battery over the water since it ran fine while it was still raining and after 2 days drying out decides not to start coincident with the dead battery.

Does anyone have any ideas to help? The shop I trust to work on this car is 40 miles away through a flooded downtown Houston, so I want to exhaust all possibilities before eating that tow.
