Any complaints on 2009 cooper s manual?
Hello guys, I found a 09 Mini cooper s, manual with aftermarket 18" wheels.
The vehicle currently has 86k miles on it. Is that a good idea to purchase that vehicle? I heard there are many transmission issues, this will be my first Manual car in USA; driving a manual car after 7 years or so. I just wanted to get the manual car out of my system, so, looking for a cheaper alternative. 2009 Mini Cooper S Premature Clutch Failure: 4 Complaints All the complaints in this are from Manual owners, mostly. I'll be getting it inspected at a BMW/ Mini dealer in town, which costs around $100-200. Anything else I need to take care? Can I buy it or it is better to steer off, all together? Thanks in advance. |
I actually love the manual in my wifes 2010. Shifts and drives like a dream. Much better than my Mustang which is pretty notchy and jerky. Just took some getting use to having the reverse over by first gear. As for mechanical issues, I dont know how common they are. We haven't had any issues with ours. If it checks out good then the manuals in these are pretty fun to drive.

Please read up on the N14 motor (Turbos from 2007 - 2010 (11 on JCW and convertible)) looking for timing chain issues and carbon build up. The N18 from 2011 and later is far better.
