Clicky non starter
Hi Folks. I purchased my 2011 Mini cooper S as a non runner due to the starter motor being stuck on. When I asked how the engine ran, I was told it had been fine until the starter started playing up. (Yeah, I know, SUCKER!) The battery had been disconnected due to this. I replaced the starter, which now turns the engine over just fine, but once battery was reconnected I found, indicators, windows, mirrors etc were not working which turned out to be the footwell module had corrupted. I had the footwell module reprogrammed and that is now sorted. The problem now, and since the battery has been reconnected, is when ignition is turned on there is constant relay clicking sound from the engine compartment in a couple of locations, the boxed relay next to the main fuse box and also, or so it sounds, from the Vanos solenoid at the rear left of the engine, and no start. There is power to the coil packs. I'm suspecting that the JBE module has corrupted similar to the footwell module, there is spasmodic connection to it via the OBD2, but when it does connect it then reports lack of communication with JBE. This level of electronics is new to me. Would the JBE being faulty exhibit these symptoms?
