The mrs' mini has come up with P3040 and P3042 when I plugged a diagnostic machine in.

Symptoms up to plugging the machine were when it had been at high revs and then calmed down, E.g., traffic lights etc, the car would idle rough and drop to the point of stalling sometimes. Its started and flagged up the light within 3 days. (approx. 30 miles of driving) the cars done 28000 and on an 07.

I gave it "some" and the EML light came on giving the above codes and said "Camshaft position sensor a circuit low bank 1 or single sensor" (P3042). P3040 read the same but didn't come back after I cleared it.

The car shows P3042 after taking it to high revs after a reset,( clearing it and turning the cra, turning it back on and 3/4k) but not initially - making me think this is as easy as the Camshaft sensor (as the fault code states), My question is do people agree with this? Other likely issues?
