Potential new Mini owner needs help with 08 S.
 

I'm looking at an 08 Cooper S. Lady said it was driving and had the MIL on. Now car will start, idle at about 2-3k then shuts off. She was not able to get faults checked. She had chain, tensioner, guides, etc replaced around a year ago. She had this done because the top guide broke. She drobe it to the shop to do the work. Currently waiting to hear back how long between having work down and it started acting up now. She's willing to trade for my 03 jetta. So I'll come out good for sure, but I really don't want to get rid of my perfectly working car for one I'll have to spend thousands on to get running. Thanks in advance.

Update. She states she drove for over 6 months before it started acting up after doing the chains.
