R 56 oil change reset
 

I have an 07 S that is over 36,000 miles now and I plan on doing my own oil changes from now on. Can anyone tell me how to reset the oil change indicator on the computer, or point me to where it may have already been discussed on this forum?

I have the info for the 06 and earlier cars but not the 07. Thanks for your help.

1. Press and hold the trip odometer button.
2. Insert car key and turn it to the fi rst position
(not the second position).
3. You will see 51A come up in the trip odometer
area.
4. Release, then press and hold again.
5. Watch for the word “RST” to appear on the
Odometer indicator.
6. Release, then press and hold again.
7. Wait for the “RST” message to fl ash.
8. Release, and then press &
release
(once only).

This seems to be the way to reset the 02 to 06 models. The 07 doesn't have a key with various positions, it has the disc that clicks into the dash with a push button start. Has anyone used this formula to reset a car with a disc key and not a regular key?

How do you run the radio ??? that would be the same as the first click

If i just put the disc (key) in, the radio etc will come on. I'll give it a try and let you know what happens.

The above procedure is for the 02-06 minis and doesn't work on the 07 and newer. I happened across the correct procedure on the Mini Mania website.

This worked to reset the oil service interval

Changing the oil was relatively easy following the instructions elsewhere on this site. Should be no problem for anyone with minimal mechanical skills.

To Reset Service Indicators such as the Oil Service Interval, or the Brake Wear Light, perform the following steps:
To enter the service Menu:
Insert Key
Do not press clutch / brake
Press Start button
Wait until the Car / revelant Service symbol disappears on the Rev counter display
Immediately after the symbol goes out - Press and hold Both buttons on the Rev Counter
Continue to hold - the system will run a dash light check
Continue to hold
Display will then show VIN / Menu, - continue to hold through this until the time Reappears on the display.
Now release Only the Right hand Button (trip reset) for about a second, and then press and hold again (whilst still holding the LH button)
After another second or 2 the display will show the Front Brake Symbol You Are
Now in the Service Menu
Use the BC Button (on indicator stalk) to scroll through to the relevant symbol - eg Oil Reset or Rear Brakes
To Reset the warning indicator light - Press & Hold the BC Button at the revelant symbol until RESET appears - then press and hold again until the process is complete.
Turn Off and On the Ignition again - Warning should now have gone!
