Default Service Reset

Hi All, I hope someone can help me.
I bought a 2006 Mini Cooper S (R56) a month ago and the Brake Pad wear notice came up on the radio/GPS monitor over the weekend stating I should take it to a dealer, I bought four new brake discs and pads and changed them earlier today but the warning notice is still showing on the monitor.

Can I remove the warning notice myself or do I have to take it to a dealer?

Did you replace the break pad sensors? They are designed to break if worn down.. thats what triggers it only reason I ask is because my friend did the same thing.. Replaced breaks tried to reset the code didnt work because he never replaced the actual sensor.

Getting replaced tomorrow, got it booked in at the garage.
Thought it would be best so they can do the reset and it's only costing £40 job lot
