Toyota T-IV =? Aisin T-IV =? Aisin/Mobil JWS3309 =? Mini JWS3309 ??
I would like to get a definitive answer on this if possible ... Toyota Type T-IV is dirt cheap at the local Toyota dealership, Aisin/Mobil are a bit pricier but I am having a hard time finding them anywhere on the SF Peninsula ... and MINI ATF is outrageously expensive so I won't go there.
I have seen plenty of forum threads claiming/confirming equality between the various pairs of oil brands I mentioned in the subject line, and that the Aisin/Mobil ones work fine in the MINI's Aisin transmission ... what I haven't heard is someone using Toyota Type T-IV in their MINI. Has anyone heard of this? Thanks. John |

Here, I found these two specs from ExxonMobil for Toyota Type T-IV and Mobil ATF 3309, that appear to be pretty close ... still looking for one for Aisin or MINI brand fluids ...

Here's one for Aisin OT4 that says it serves Type T-IV applications ... The metrics listed are an uneven overlap with that of the other two fluids so hard to tell how close they are ... this one shows a lower viscosity at 40C, but it states it as a lower bounded range, I don't know enough about these fluids to know what's important to compare.

After seeing enough claims that the fluids are the same, and verifying that my MINI has an Aisin transmission, I pulled the plug and used Toyota Type T-IV ATF, 3 drain-and-fills at 2 qts each. So far so good, the transmission shifts smoothly (or about as smoothly as it ever has) ...
