Troubleshooting- Exhaust Leak?
I'm looking for a bit of advice surrounding a potential exhaust leak.
Bare with me if this is an obvious problem, this is my first car and I'm trying to learn how to fix problems within my abilities
Loud noise when accelerating in low gears, but not while idling or coasting without throttle. Noise becomes quieter in the higher gears and rpms but still noticeable if you're listening for it. Its at its worst when pulling away in first. Sounds silly but the noise sounds exactly like when you used to put a can in the back tire of your bmx to make it sound like a motorbike.
There's a exhaust smell when the cars stationary with the engine on, but only if the heat/air cons on, which is why I'm guessing an exhaust leak.
Any helps appreciated, hopefully I'll be able to sort this myself without sending it to a mechanic
