water pipe on R56 N16 engine
 

Hi,

Currently working on a 2013 Mini Cooper, 1.6 lt, R56, N16 motor.

Looking for some guidance on getting the plastic water pipe seated correctly inside the thermostat housing. Haveing a bear of a time. The waterpipe was cracked when I removed the faulty thermostat. I have purchased a new thermostat and a Raine aftermarket water pipe. I have managed to get it seated inside the waterpump housing (no small feat..lol) Everything appears to match, but I am not sure how to line the male notch at the bottom of the thermostat up with the female slot on the pipe. When in position both are completely out of sight resting up against the transmission housing. Also I cannot seem to get the 2 pieces to align perfectly up so that I can insert the pipe into the housing.

This is my daughters car and first mini I have ever worked on. She overheated it, blew the headgasket, and twisted the head. I must say it is indeed the most challenging engine I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Anyway, we are over the worst and getting it back together now.

Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated,
