Why so much pressure to get paint sealant?

bought a 2008 Mini Cooper yesterday and was extremely pressured by the Sales people to spend $1,000 on some paint sealant. We fought tooth and nail to get them to nix it and won. However, we thought it was a bit odd that we were buying a car off the lot, and that it would only take 45 mins for them to both detail AND apply the sealant. Hmmm...

Is this a B.S. way to tack additional cost onto your Mini or is it legit? I want to hear from owners only. No sales people or dealers.

Thanks!

RE: Why so much pressure to get paint sealant?

You nailed it Cafn8..........it's called ADP.........added dealer profit. Take your well earned and saved pennies (dollars, actually) to the local auto parts store, buy some Mequair's wax and enjoy making your Mini look like a jewel, with just as much protection as you could have paid much more for.
