2002 Mini - 5-Speed Only Goes Into 2nd Gear
 

Reman'd gearbox and new clutch 10,000 miles ago, absolutely no problems since then. Today my wife was driving and it suddenly would not go into any gear but 2nd. Clutch not slipping, no burnt clutch smell, no unusual noises before or after, it's just that every gear but 2nd feels blocked out.

Clutch adjustment?
Clutch pedal adjustment?
Clutch master cylinder?

Any advice appreciated

Update: No oil drips, will go into 2nd and 4th. Going to call the shop that did the clutch and gearbox swap tomorrow. Any other ideas?

The guy that installed the re-man'd gearbox checked it, changed the oil, there were no metal particles and the oil did not appear degraded, and declared it "fixed" after a long test drive. I agree, mostly, there are times when it doesn't want to go into 1st gear, putting it into any other gear, 2nd-5th, results in it then going into 1st gear. All subsequent shifts are fine.

Anybody here experience this before? If it's just a quirk and doesn't hurt anything, then fine. If it's a signal for impending doom, not fine.
