2002 r50 advice needed please!
Hey guys and gals,
I have a situation and don't know much about the value of car parts so I am looking for some advice from sellers/mechanics or people who actually know what they are talking about (my dad seems to think he knows but has been wrong about everything in the past so I would rather ask some pros if poss). My 2002 r50 mini cooper gearbox died a couple of months ago, I have been told by the mechanic that I am looking at about AUS $1000 labour to fix it and around AUS $2000 for an old gear box or AUS $5000 for reconditioned. I was just wondering if you could tell me whether it would be financially worth paying $3000 to get it fixed and then sell it, hopefully for about $7000 minimum. Or if it would be worth trying to sell the parts myself, the ones that are actually working, I don't know the value of these so am not 100% sure. I bought it for $11,500 so it will be at a loss anyway but I just need some cash pretty quickly.... Any advice guys?? Thanks so much in advance for your time!! Cindy |
Hi Cindy. In my opinion, just sell it as is. It's going to be a pain in the ass if you part it out. That'll be time consuming and probably a headache. Good luck. Let me know how it goes.
