2002 staring problem

I have never had a problem starting my 2002 mini. Tonight I went to start it and everything started flashing and clicking but not turning over. Can anyone tell me what this might be?

bad battery did you try to jump it ?

no it was at midnight last nite so I will try that today

Ok so I cleaned the battery terminals and jump started it. It started right away and five minutes later also. Then I tried several hours later and it won't start again. Does that sound like the battery? If not what is my next step?

Battery

Is got to be the battery. Take your battery to the shop and recharge it. If it doesn't hold a charge you will be needing a new battery.

Also test the alternator. While the engine is still running remove the ground cable(black) from the battery. If the engine shuts off you have a faulty alternator.

DO NOT do that test on any MINI !!!!
Take it to Autozone ect and have the charging system and battery tested for FREE
