2005 Front marker light—removal

Asking about my 2005 R50:

All I want to do is replace the clear marker light that sits next to the amber turn signal indicator in the front bumper. The video guide I found says I can just turn the plug and remove it, but it looks solid and it feels like I’m going to snap some plastic before I get it loose by turning it. I did pull the end of the plug off, but I think that just left the rest of the plug and the bulb in the socket.

this is hard to reach with my hand, but I’m nervous about using pliers because I’m not convinced I’m supposed to be able to rotate it to unlock. Who knows for sure?
