2005 Mini Cooper Sport Mode?
Hi all! I recently bought a used Mini. I've had it about 2 weeks. Today I noticed on the display that it said "SD", so I looked it up in the manual. Apparently this is sport mode? Anyway, I've never seen it in anything else. Today briefly at around 90 mph it was in plain D mode, but for the most part it is in SD. It never says P, or N or anything else. When I push the shifter to the right, in manual shift mode or whatever, it does nothing. The light that says m/s is always on too. Pushing it plus or minus in this position changes nothing either. Is my car permanently stuck in "sport mode"? What can I do to make it go into normal drive mode? Or is this all normal?

Hi, my car has recently started doing the same thing. I am wondering if you ever found a solution? |

I have a thread about it in this Facebook group:

I don’t know if you have found a solution yet, but I took my car to the repair shop and they were able to fix the problem. The shifter was not able to ground individual circuits which is what was causing it to misread the selected gear. If you or the previous owner have ever spilled a soda on the shifter, that could be your problem as well. I got the shifter assembly replaced, and it is now working fine. Hope this helps! |
Did you fix this issue in the end?
