I was driving home tonight and heard a funny noise coming from under my 2005 mini with a manual transmission. It sounded like a playing card being attached to a spoke on a bicycle. About every second or so a slight scratch. When I arrived home, it smelled hot. I put the car on stands and when I got underneath of it, I notice what I thought was oil under the car. The oil was clear and had metal flake in it. The only place I can really see it coming from is around the starter, and from the transmission. The car still drives, not hard to shift, no major clunks or grinds, but having a BMW as well, I know the transmission and power steering is controlled similarly to my BMW. I have no idea what this is???? Help Please!
