Brake pad wear indicators?

Brake pad wear indicators?
I just replaced all rotors and pads on my 2002 Mini but there were no wear indicators on the old pads. I purchased new wear indicators. I see where they attach to the pads but I don't know where the other end is to be attached? Any help would be appreciated.
