I am new to mini coopers and i am looking to buy my first one. i have found a -03 with 15 000km and the seller is asking 39 000SEK about 4500USD.

It has a small amount of rust in the back and the central lock on the driverdoor has some problem.

It has just gone trough service and it has a new cooler and new brakes.

This will be my daily car going back and fourth to work. So i will drive around 10km a day year round (sweden)

Yes/No?

Should i save up and buy a newer one?

The price is not bad considering the minor problems it has. Have you test drove it yet?

 

No, Will do that tomorrow I am most worried about gearbox failure.

 

There are stories about that but only if you get the non S model.

 

What are these stories please?

 

Just that the gearboxes will fail. It'll get stuck, grind and or pop out.
