Code reappearing after repair

2006 mini r50 is throwing a code indicating thermostat needs attention. We just replaced both the thermostat and the temperature sensor. What else could be causing this code to reappear? It takes a couple of drives for it to throw this code back. We have cleared the code at least 5 times. This is the first time it's come back after sensor replacement. Any ideas?

What P code is it throwing and what thermostat did you use as the replacement?

code # and thermostat

The code number is the P0128. The thermostat that was purchased was this one: Mini Cooper Thermostat Housing Cover Gasket Seal 11537829959 11537596787 Set | eBay

I am unfamiliar with that brand. It could be a faulty part. It could be a faulty temp sensor, here. Check all connections of the sensors and go over the install to make sure you didn't miss plugging something back in. You may want to install an OEM thermostat here, but you could also see if they'll send you a replacement. I have seen a few threads where individuals had this code after installing a non-OEM thermostat. Once replaced, issue went away. Here is some more information on the code:

Thank you

Purchased one of the recommended brands of thermostats (Wahler). Installed it last weekend and the code has not reappeared. That's the longest it has stayed off since it first appeared. Hoperfully, the issue has been resolved. Thanks again for the help!

You're welcome. Do be sure to have someone with an OBDII diagnostic tool reset the code in the system. Although the CEL is not on, the code is still stored. You want to clear it to so that you don't have old codes stored in the system. :)
