CVT Transmission Class Action

Another owner and I are collecting names for a class action lawsuit. The attorney has been hired, we are just in the process of collecting names/contact info of mini owners whose CVT has failed. That is the only criteria for now.

If interested in joining our small but growling list of owners, please submit your contact info to jamiejoyslovick@yahoo.com and include the year of your car and the approx mileage when the tranny failed.

I don't mean to sound stupid but (if the shoe fits) is this referring to the auto trans only?

what was happening to your car?

I bought a 2006 a few months ago. Now the tranny is starting to make a whirling sound! I presume it's only a matter of time. It would not be so bad except NOBODY works on these but the dealer......at over $8000+. These are 'throw-away' cars if the trannies go!
If i can join (since technically the tranny hasn't broken) count me in.

I just bought a 2006 mini and the transmission is acting funny. Looking at all the post I'm getting very worried! Please count me in.

I'm not sure technical terms to use, but is the whirring sound you hear, remind you of like the cartoon George Jetson? Random I know but that's the best way for me to describe how my car sounds now. My friend and I were joking that I should put a bubble blower on the back. Unfortunately it's not a joke as I am reading that it could be $5-8k to fix this.

I also don't know the technical term, but I suppose that's as good a description as any. I have continued to drive the Mini as I have been told I might as well drive it till it breaks!!
I asked a friend of mine that works at a VW dealer as Mech. Manager that if I was to have the tranny fluid changed it might do as much damage as good since these are sealed!?
Not sure what to do, gut feeling says change the fluid, others are saying don't.

CVT whine

I am frustrated. My 05 R52 with 52K has been maintained by dealer. Took in for front bushings and came away with a 8000.00 bill on a vehicle that retails for as much.
The final drive noise (whine) sounds like the old radio static that followed engine RPM as you drove. I think that BMW has a recall issue that should have been addresses years ago, that keeps coming out from under the carpet.

I am all for a class action suit.
Even though my Mini still drives, I could not sell (DUMP) it before it was repaired or how much can you get for a Mini that has to be driven with the Harmon Kardon speakers pumping out music to mask the transmission noise.
